High prevalence of the metabolic syndrome among Iranian adolescents - (26/05/06)
This population-based, cross-sectional study on 3036 Iranian adolescents of both sexes identified the metabolic syndrome in 10.1% of subjects and low serum high-density lipoproteins and high serum triglycerides were its most common components. The prevalence of the metabolic syndrome was the highest in subjects with overweight as compared with those at risk for overweight or with normal weight.
